Prologue

When the coroner arrived, I was at a complete loss for words. People were lining the streets rushing outside their houses. You can tell by their faces that this was a community that wasn’t used to unsettling scenes like this. “What? Wait, oh my God no!” I said shaking tears streaming down my face. I got out the car and bolted.
“Ms. Harris wait!” the detective screamed as I ran until I made it inside the house.

He didn’t even bother coming after me. Some of the cops tried to stop me but I was too quick. The neighbors knew what it was so they just moved right outta my way. With my eyes welling up with tears I ran into the house full of cops, forensics experts, and other people being questioned. It was a nightmare.
What I found was something that would completely crush me. I fell to my knees in disbelief. My breathing became so heavy that my lungs felt like they were going to collapse. I couldn’t believe what I was looking at. This is all a dream, right? But it wasn’t it was a nightmare.
“ No, no, no, noooo!” I said screaming. I cried so much I almost burst a blood vessel. There was so much blood. It looked like the murder scenes you see in movies. Just then, I felt two large hands grip me tightly underneath my armpits in an attempt to pull me off the floor. But they were unsuccessful. I was dead weight. I couldn’t believe it had actually happened. My eyes became so swollen. I never cried so much in my life. My life was forever changed.
